God in
Government Buildings
U.S.
Capitol Building
The U.S. Capitol Building has a chapel with a stained glass window of
George Washington in prayer. If the Radical Heathen Left is correct in
their interpretation of "separation of church and state," why did the
U.S. Government break its own law and allow this acknowldgement of God
to appear in the very building where laws are made?
Note the inscription on the window:
This
Nation Under God.
Preserve me, O God, for in Thee do I put my
trust. (Psalm 16:1).
Obviously this was not a violation of the separation of church and
state when it was built, or Congress and the courts would not have
allowed it.
If it was not a violation of the separation of church and state when
it was built, why do some people claim it is a violation now? Has the
Constitution changed? Do we have a new First Amendment?
Of course not! These expressions of faith in God have nothing to do
with the separation of church and state.
The Radical Heathen Left, led by the ACLU, want to erase important
parts of our history as a nation. They want you to believe that the
First Amendment is under attack by people of faith. The truth is
the First Amendment is under attack by the ACLU and others of the
Radical Heathen Left.
The
Washington
Monument
Not only does the Washington Monument have Scripture verses and an
affirmation of faith in God inscribed on it, a Bible was placed
in its cornerstone when it was built. Nobody saw this as a violation
of the separation of church and state during the years it was under
construction (1848-1889).
Below are the inscriptions of faith and where they may be found in
the Washington Monument:

Deo (Praise be to God)
The Latin words, Laus Deo, (Praise be to God) are engraved on
the east side of the aluminum cap of the Monument.
The
National Cathedral
Washington, DC
The National Cathedral is not a government building, but it was in
the original plans of George Washington in 1791, “intended for
national purposes, such as public prayer, thanksgiving, funeral
orations, etc., and assigned to the special use of no particular Sect
or denomination, but equally open to all.” On January 6, 1893,
Congress granted a charter to the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral
Foundation of the District of Columbia, allowing it to establish a
cathedral. The Charter was signed by President Benjamin Harrison.
Didn't George Washington, The United States Congress or President
Benjamin Harrison think they were violating the Law of the Land in
providing for a National Cathedral? |
